Heat wave in Karachi

Heat waves in Karachi, Pakistan

Heat waves are generally the result of trapped air. As opposed to cycling around the globe, it is simply stayed put and warmed like the air inside an oven. Summer has arrived in parts of the country with full force. Meteorologists has predicted that a heat wave is due to strike Karachi and some other areas of Sindh and also Balochistan between March and June.  They have also warned the heatwave will hit Karachi particularly hard the temperature will rise up to 39 degrees celsius and humidity levels reaching 64pc.

Heat waves in Karachi has become a regular phenomenon only in recent years. Perhaps the first recorded heat wave of its kind struck the mega polis in June 2015. People of Karachi were completely caught  unprepared. As it was the month of fasting, over 2000 people were reported in the City perished, among the Dead, a large number comprised the elderly, and those who were homeless also those living in a regular housing settlements where houses are often small, poorly ventilated and supply of electricity is unreliable. In fact, in October last year Karachi has experience and an usual heat wave also.

The Pakistan meteorological department has predicted, adding that the heat wave will last till and off the April but it's may 20, now so here is the weather forecast of Karachi, division for next 3 days.

Hot weather comes with health risks, which is why it is so important to be aware of how to stay safe in the sun and high temperatures.

I thought it is very important to authorities to take steps immediately to set up temporary shelters where people can rest and hydrate themselves. Over the long term the authorities should also work with urban planners and other professionals to create more green spaces in the city and improve the transport system to reduce carbon emissions.

If you are under an extreme heat warning then;

Find air conditioning, avoid strenuous activities, verdite clothing,
*drink plenty of fluids it is important to drink up if you are not thirsty,  avoid sugary or alcoholic drinks these will actually make you lose more fluids. you also want to stick to drinks,  that aren't super cold.
Watch for heat stroke, heat exhaustion and heat cramps and never ever leave people or pets in the car.

Thank you!
